Holiday Events in Jersey City
Music, lights and delicious food. Spending time with the people we love. Who’s ready for the 2019 holiday season? Here’s an early look at Jersey City’s don’t-miss holiday events.
Before Your Thanksgiving Dinner
Most of us have Thanksgiving plans on our calendar whether we visit family or our favorite restaurant. Here’s some fun to whet your appetite for the big feast.
LSC After Dark: Friendsgiving: Stop by the Liberty Science Center on November 21 for their latest After Dark Parties. Compete in the Science Center’s version of Family Feud with your friends, a pie eating contest, or a special Friends trivia challenge celebrating the show’s 25 anniversary. On the other hand, if games aren’t your thing, learn how to pull a tablecloth without breaking dishes if games aren’t your thing.
Jersey City Wine Fest: Looking for the perfect wine to pair with your big dinner? Surprise your family with your amazing taste after spending the day at the 2019 Jersey City Wine Fest. Come down to Harborside on November 23 and sample hundreds of wines from around the world. After you’ve found the perfect wine, head over to Jersey Wine & Spirits and grab a bottle to bring to Thanksgiving Dinner. The wine fest starts at 6:00 PM. All you favorite Jersey City food trucks will be there, too.
Jersey City Turkey Day 5k and 1-mile Fun Run: Worried about eating too many calories on Thanksgiving? Start a new tradition by running in the 1st Annual Jersey City Turkey Day 5k. It’s a great way to warm up for the big day of eating ahead of you. The race starts at Exchange Plaza and follows the beautiful Jersey City waterfront. Register today and get a free t-shirt. All proceeds benefit local charities.
Holiday Concerts and Theater
Holiday music and the performing arts are essential to your holiday plans. Get tickets for these festive outings before it’s too late.
A Christmas Carol: This year Art House Productions is putting on their version of everyone’s favorite Christmas story. This modern take uses various film versions of Dickens’ classic to create a fresh theater experience. Runs from December 11 to December 22.
Jersey City Nutcracker: Nimbus continues their unique holiday tradition starting December 13. The Jersey City Nutcracker takes the classic story you know and updates it, Jersey City style. Make this the year you see this urban holiday adventure story for the first time. Holiday revelers of all ages will love this adaptation of Tchaikovsky’s classic.
The Ukuladies In Wintertime: Come to the SMUSH Gallery on December 14 if you’re looking for an unforgettable holiday experience. The Ukuladies will bring their zany take on the holiday season to Jersey City. Don’t miss this chance to laugh and sing sleighing songs all night.
