Jersey City Living During Coronavirus
2020 has brought its challenges, and Jersey City has remained strong throughout the coronavirus pandemic. One of our area’s favorite ways to support our community is by frequenting local restaurants. While indoor dining and the bar scene are still on hold, you can still savor nearly any type of cuisine. The following are a sampling of the best restaurants for Jersey City living that you can still enjoy during this unprecedented time.
Fresh Air and Fresh Food for Jersey City Living
Many of the popular restaurants in Jersey City are known for their outdoor dining. Even more have made it available during coronavirus. These beloved spots offer the best food in a safe, socially-distanced atmosphere.
Battello – Think luxurious, and this Jersey City favorite comes to mind. Outdoor seating and “Italian without borders” cuisine from Chef Ryan DePerio will make you think you’re on vacation. Enjoy delicious dinner or brunch with a stunning view.
Harry’s Daughter – The Caribbean-inspired gastropub now has outdoor dining available. There’s no beating the flavors of both traditional and contemporary dishes at this lively eatery. The atmosphere and food combined with their craft cocktails makes this a place to unwind and enjoy like no other.
Domodomo – We posted about making Domodomo one of the Jersey City restaurants to try in 2020. Covid-19 hasn’t changed that recommendation. Domodomo is now open for outdoor seating. Just make sure to call ahead for reservations because space is limited and the food is incredible.
Liberty House – One of the best brunch spots in Jersey City is open again for outdoor dining. Come back to enjoy the delicious offerings while overlooking the Hudson River. They are offering a shortened menu but some favorites are still there. Don’t miss their Guinness Stout Glazed Lollipops or the Roasted Vegetable Pave.
Porta Jersey City – The rooftop bar at Porta is a full city block. There is plenty of space for you to enjoy their amazing food at a safe distance. They have a great selection of pasta dishes and, of course, many exotic pizzas to choose from.
The Best Curbside Pickup and Delivery
Jersey City residents work hard, and they haven’t skipped a beat during coronavirus. The convenience of picking up dinner or having it delivered is as vital as ever. Support local businesses and spend less time cooking in your hot kitchen this summer.
Fire & Oak Jersey City – The chefs at Fire & Oak have developed a take-home service menu with the best selection of favorite dishes that can be reheated. They offer specific instructions to reheating so as to enjoy the best experience of their food at home. Enjoy Detroit-style pizzas, creative salads and the best in burgers and BBQ.
Bread and Salt – Bread and Salt is famous for its ever-changing menu items, and their online food store continues to thrive. Shop online for daily offerings of fresh cheeses, meats and grocery items. Their pasta and bakery items will inspire you to experiment at home with your own inner chef.
Hamilton Pork – Has it been four months since you had a churro waffle ice cream sandwich? No time better than now. One of the most creative BBQ spots in Jersey City is offering pickup and delivery. Although you should probably go with the latter. Your ice cream sandwich might not make it to your door.
Ani Ramen – While the Newark Avenue location is closed because of coronavirus, check out District Kitchen for pickup. Harborside’s beautiful food hall means you don’t have to go without your favorite ramen!
Maggie’s Farm Espresso – Looking for some great coffee and pastries? Maggie’s Farm Espresso is open for pick up and delivery. Use Seamless or Grubhub to enjoy a home-baked delight that is made from scratch on the premises. Don’t forget to try the chai that is brewed in house using real shaved Callebaut dark chocolate.
