Week 1: Mindfulness Meditation
Mindfulness is a lifelong tool that can help reduce anxiety, depression, and teach us how to rest in the present moment and enjoy the simple yet profound joys of daily life. It also is beneficial in guiding us to allow whatever shows up for us with a quality of non-judgement and loving-awareness which helps to free us from suffering.
Week 2: Body Scan Meditation
Body scans are designed to help you develop a mindful awareness of your bodily sensations, and to relieve tension wherever it is found. Research suggests that this mindfulness practice can help reduce stress, improve well-being, and decrease aches and pains.
Week 3: Loving-kindness (Metta) for oneself
Learn how to cultivate self-love, compassion, and acceptance for oneself. This also helps in increasing positive emotions and quieting the inner critic. There has been scientific evidence through research that Loving-Kindness practitioners had longer telomere length (a biological marker of aging)!!
Week 4: Compassion Meditation
“According to recent research, More than just a feel-good practice, compassion meditation leads to improved mood, more altruistic behavior, less anger, reduced stress, and decreased maladaptive mind wandering.” www.Health.usnews.com
Week 5: Sound Meditation
Enjoy and relax in the sounds of nature and a singing bowl as the object of focus for this weeks meditation. Singing bowls are used for deep relaxation and stress reduction!
